Question

How can I temporarily disable service monitoring in Guardian?

Answer

If for some reason you need to temporarily disable the monitoring of certain service all you need to do is create a file with the service name in the /svcstop directory for the server. For example:

touch /svcstop/mysql

The command above will create the /svcstop/mysql and Guardian will not try to restart this service as long as the file is present. This could be particularly helpful when you are upgrading the service in question as you would not want to have it restarted by Guardian during the upgrade.
